Poker Stars Welcomes 20 Millionth Player
Tuesday March 17, 2009
The Poker Stars has hit a truly amazing milestone by announcing that it now has more players than the populations of New York, Los Angeles and Chicago combined.
Poker Stars entered the Guinness Book Of World Records in December of 2007 for having the most players simultaneously playing online with 151,758 but announced yesterday that it had gone a step further by signing up its 20 millionth account.
The milestone player was 'Piposko' from Slovakia, who signed up on February 21 and was rewarded with a special $215 tournament ticket as a thank you.
Poker Stars stated that it is unlike an online casino in that its players never compete against the house but always against other real participants from around the world. The site offers different poker variations including Texas Hold'em, Omaha, Stud and Draw alongside mixed game variants in real and play for fun modes.
