Saturday August 26, 2006
Leading online casino, poker and bingo provider Playtech has released impressive results for the period ended June 2006. Revenues have more than doubled in the last six months, and poker revenues are looking promising for the group...
Playtech powers some of the world's biggest online casinos and poker rooms. The group announced its interim results for the year, and some of the highlights include:
139% growth in gross revenues to $46.2 million
129% growth in casino revenues to over $40 million
Revenue from its poker network up by a massive by 851% to $4.8 million (understandable as their iPoker network is relatively new)
The group has so far added seven new licensed operators this year, with more expected in the second half.
Playtech have also made significant progress with a number of new product being launched during the first half of the year which included Asian focused games like Mahjong and a range of mobile games.
With recent concerns over the US market, Playtech is well positioned to grow in new markets, because of the establishment of an Asian division, as well as its continued growth in the UK and Europe through strategic licensing partners like big bookmakers.
Playtech's CEO, Avigur Zmora, said: "We believe that we are ideally positioned to take full advantage of global growth opportunities in the gaming sector. Our global positioning though strategic licensing, as well as our new product development initiatives initiatives will allow us to continue providing a complete gaming solutions to our licensees and their customers. We look forward to the second half of the year with confidence."
