The sawing of the bat is part of the casino's plan to use it in an ongoing effort to raise money for charity. The casino has not yet decided on the exact details, but they have a history of devising creative ways to raise awareness and funds for many worthy causes.

"Anytime an item of this historical significance generates so much attention, it has enormous potential to raise money for charity," said Golden Palace Casino CEO Richard Rowe. "We expect to use the interest in the bat to develop a fund-raising campaign to help those less fortunate. You can also bet that we will find the most fun and innovative way to do that."
